Elderly Challenge - Observation 2
Ok ok this is late, I know but here it is anyway:
Elderly Challenge - Observation 2!
Well I hung around the exercise area to observe.. Several elderly folk usually visit the place to exercise, but other than that I saw that they just sit around watching people. This could be because there is nothing to do at home. Also, some go to the coffeeshop or the void deck for a game of chinese chess against others. And I noticed that quite a few keep birds as pets, they are lonely so the birds serve as company..
We could hold trainings for them to like, teach them how to use the computer or an iPhone/iPad, that way they will not feel so cut off from the world as they are not familiar with these 'new, cool kids gadget' that are becoming increasingly popular. Having old folks learn this also bridges the gap between them and their children and grandchildren. And maybe we could hold competitions for 'Best Chess Player' , or 'Most Well-Groomed Bird' for them, I think that if they want attention they can join and take part, this also exposes them to more people so they can make friends and socialise.
Ok, that should be all for what I saw..
